Research questions
As part of our user research, we have composed the following questions to ask the client and/or similar individuals.
Is our understanding of the project good enough to come up with relevant ideas?
What do the competitors have that you like and don’t like? What don’t they have?
What websites do you use for inspiration?
How to make our website unique and playful?
I myself had also made a question which unfortunately wasn’t asked, mainly because others found the question was too confusing, although I personally feel my question was a good attempt at better grounding Eleni’s ideas.
Is it correct to see homo Bradypus as a transhumanist idea of how humanity as a species could grow and evolve in combination with their cultural existence? Also how do you see Bradypus as different from us as people? In a metaphysical sense or a psychological sense or physical sense? Could one become a homo Bradypus?
Persona and user research
To properly illustrate who our target audience is, we hahave created one persona. The client requested the website to be fitting for multiple target groups, namely children, researchers and other artists. This is a very broad target group, and it’s very hard to create a fitting site for all three of these groups in one, therefore, we have chosen to create a site mainly focusing on artists, as we also have the best reference audience for this group.
Our persona is mainly based on our client, Eleni, as she herself is exactly the kind of artist we make this site for. This approach allows us to create a well defined persona, without having to do much, if any, guesswork.
Logo development
For the logo, we have had several ideas. Early on, I started ideating on expressing mainly the communal ideas of the project, and also the transhumanist nature of the project.
Later, we spent an afternoon brainstorming with the whole group for several topics, including the logo for the website.
In this process, Sergio had the idea for a logo with a sloth, as bradypus, from the homo bradypus symbioticus name is the scientific name for this species. Therefore, it was a perfect candidate for inclusion in the logo.
Along with this association, the eventual logo also includes a refence to the communal aspect of the vision the artist has. The logo is shaped in such a way as to not only imply a sloth, but also two people greeting each other with a hug.
Brand style guide
To ensure uniformity and formality in the Homo Bradypus Symbiosis project, I have started work on the brand style guide for the project. Currently, it features guidelines for the logo, guidelines for abbreviations, definitions of terms and the provisional color palette. It will be updated until our project is finished to make sure our team has enough creative freedom.
